This is my 4wd daily driver, with a 22R, which was my first truck before my 16’th birthday. I built this truck to be tough, track straight, and be turn key. My dad and I worked together on this project, and after a few friends of ours saw what we were doing, they wanted to donate their spare parts to us. The frame was stripped clean, including throwing out the stock steering mechanism, and replacing it with an IFS steering box w/ hy-steer kit.
At this point, we went with completely different suspension and switched to Toyota rear leaf springs in the front (so it would push the front axle forward). We decided to install Chevy 63's, with a shackle kit to hold up the rear, and chose to go with different shackle locations for both. The front and rear bumpers, including the mud flaps we hand built (so it could drive legally down the road). A spiral adapter from LC Engineering was also installed below the Weber carburetor to atomize the air and fuel better. Xenon headlights were also installed with brighter LED bulbs swapped out, creating a much better field of vision. I was fortunate enough to receive a full IFS rear axle (donated), and due to its wider track width, I ordered Trail Gear wheel spacers to match the front axle to the rear. Lastly, we pulled the motor, and replaced all the gaskets in it. The list goes on and on with this truck and there are many more parts I will be getting from LC Engineering in the future.
