Jose’s 87′ 4Runner

I bought my 87’ 4runner from Facebook Marketplace from a really cool guy who lived in Yuma, AZ. He gave me a real good deal on it but with one condition, “That I wouldn't chop it up and make it into a rock crawler”. I assured him that it would be a full restoration and he was all for my idea.

I started with a rebuilt engine and transmission. Thanks to LC Engineering, I purchased a complete exhaust system Street Headers, Catalytic converter, and Pro Flow Exhaust (ceramic coated of course). It didn't have a catalytic converter on it at the time of purchase and I needed to make it street legal. Injectors, oil cap, wire loom, flex fan, vacuum hose kit, cold start injector and a temp sensor were also swapped out for new from LCE.

My uncle (who works at Toyota in the parts department) with his over 30 years of knowledge, helped me order many of the parts I needed for my rebuild. He also made arrangements for his buddy (a master mechanic also from Toyota) to help me with the assembly. With a lot of patience and time, I dressed the engine with the blue, black and aluminum colors.

I plan to lift it about 4” with all terrain tires on the old school wheels it's got now. She will remain painted the same OEM white. Interior will be redone as well. I'll keep you posted as I continue my build. It's not going to be for sale as I have too much money invested in her and I've wanted a 1st gen 4runner since high school. My other ride is an 07’ FJ Cruiser.
