This 1986 screams "Fun"! It has a rebuilt and bored +.020" over 22re from an 89'. The dual battery setup, with solar panels, ARB compressor, and a 1500 watt converter that it sports enables Payne to set up camp just about anywhere. Plus, he has fitted all that kit in a custom box to keep things neat and tidy! Thanks to the front and rear Spartan lockers (with 4.88 gears), he is able to make it up those hills, and reach areas of interest without breaking a sweat. A 6" lift, with Fox 2.0 shocks, provide the clearance; while the BFG Mud Terrains (35's) not only provide the grip, but they also have that super sweet aggressive tread pattern we all love so much!
You will notice that Payne has protected his investment with Trail Gear bumpers & rock sliders. The Smittybilt 10k winch provides that peace of mind knowing that at least you won't have to dig your truck out when you push the limits of its capabilities (like we all do). “Work smarter not harder” is the concept on this one. Rough Country LED Bars and Pods provide the light needed on those night expeditions escaping the day's heat. The Kicker sound system keeps that party going once he reaches his destination (nothing against the technology they had in the 80's LOL). Lastly, the Tuff Stuff bed rack he has mounted on the back of this not only allows him to take more tools, supplies, or spare parts, but it will keep it organized, and easily accessible for those times in need. Nobody likes emptying the truck to get the one thing that was put in "first'' when packing.
