Underdrive Crank Pulley
Our famous underdrive pulley for the 22R has evolved to the 2RZ/3RZ. This version of our crank pulley increases performance because it underdrives all the accessories (15-20%), unlike the accessory-only kits out there that do not include the crank pulley. We do not push the amount, or percentage, too far for two main reasons. First, it is important to keep charging systems, air conditioning, power steering, and water pumps moving fast enough for everyday driving. Second, not much horsepower is gained from extreme underdriving.
For the 3RZ, all of the underdriving is done at the crank pulley, not the accessory pulleys. This is done so that maximum weight loss can be achieved at the crank where most of the horsepower gains are realized. The 3RZ series underdrive crank pulleys are available in a black anodized finish with the engraved LC Engineering Performance Toyota logo. The Stock pulley weighs in at 6 pounds the LC Engineering billet Aluminum comes in at 2.5 pounds. This is quite a reduction in rotating mass. Less rotating mass will free up horsepower and give quicker throttle response.
NOTE: You may have to change belt sizes to use this pulley. May see higher engine temp in stop and go / low-speed applications. This Underdrive pulley is not intended to be used with our supercharger.
